III Executive Program in International Commercial Arbitration

International Commercial Arbitration - PLA Spain

From January 24 to February 16, the III Online Executive Program in International Commercial Arbitration (the “Program“), organized by the General Council of Spanish Lawyers in collaboration with the Spanish Committee of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC), the International Court of Arbitration of Madrid (CIAM) and the Ibero-American Arbitration Center (CIAR), was held.

This Program’s objective is to promote the specialization and training of lawyers who wish to specialize and position themselves in the field of international arbitration, being trained by the best professionals with extensive experience in the sector.

Litigation funders are not new in international commercial arbitration. However, this is the first time that the Program includes a session dedicated exclusively to the acquisition and funding of arbitrations which demonstrates the latent interest in the practice in our country.

Our CEO and third-party funding expert, Jesús Rodrigo Lavilla, participated on February 15 as a speaker in the session entitled “Acquisition and Funding of Arbitration Disputes”.

With a practical approach, Jesús explained how to prepare a case to be presented to a litigation funder as well as the main steps to be taken in a process for the acquisition and funding of arbitrations.

Specific issues related to third-party funding that may arise in international arbitration were also addressed as well as the best practices that litigation funders should follow.
