Between 6 February and 1 March 2023, the IV Online Executive Program in International Commercial Arbitration (the “Program”), organised by the General Council of Spanish Lawyers in collaboration with the Spanish Committee of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC), the International Court of Arbitration of Madrid (CIAM) and the Ibero-American Arbitration Centre (CIAR), which has been joined by the Inter-American Commercial Arbitration Commission (CIAC), will be held from 6 February to 1 March 2023.
The purpose of this programme is to continue to promote the specialisation and training of lawyers who wish to specialise and position themselves in the field of international arbitration, being trained by the best professionals.
The figure of litigation funds is not new in international commercial arbitration. Nevertheless, this is not the first time that the program includes a session dedicated exclusively to the acquisition and financing of arbitrations, which reflects the continuous growing interest in the practise in our country.
Our CEO and third-party funding expert, Jesús Rodrigo Lavilla, participated on 6 February as a speaker in this session, entitled “Acquisition and Financing of Arbitration Disputes”.
With a practical approach, Jesús explained how to prepare a case to be presented to a litigation fund, as well as the main steps to be taken in a process for the acquisition and financing of arbitrations.
Specific issues related to third party funding that may arise in international arbitration were also addressed, as well as the best practices that litigation funds should follow.
